  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into 16 pieces and softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup bourbon, water, or potato vodka + 2 tsp brown sugar for gluten-free)
  • 3 tsp pure vanilla paste or extract
  • Chocolate Glaze
  • 4 oz (about 3/4 cup) chopped bittersweet or semisweet chocolate
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp light corn syrup or Golden Syrup
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla paste or extract
