  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar or less if you wish
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 3/4 cup sliced almonds for topping
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C
  • Take a bowl, combine the dry ingredients flour, baking powder,baking soda, almond flour, well.
  • In another bowl add sugar, butter, whisk well till light. then add all the wet ingredients
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet slowly , whisking at the same time to prevent lumps of batter. add more milk to get batter consistency for cake should not be too thin or very dense
  • Sprinkle the almond slices all over the top and bake till done approximate time 45 minutes , oven time may vary , so check the cake texture by inserting a toothpick or a skewer to see it it comes clean.
  • Makes a very moist cake.
