Bengali Aloo Posto

Ingredients

  • 6 potatoes, cubed and parboiled
  • 50 g posto/ poppy seeds (khus khus)
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp kalo jeera/ kalonji/ nigella seeds
  • 1/2 a red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Salt as per taste
  • 3 green chillies
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions

    1. Take a pan and pour some oil.

    2. Put the red and green chillies. Add the nigella seeds.

    3. Now add the cubed potatoes.

    4. Put all the spices – turmeric powder, chilli powder, jeera powder and the poppy seed paste.

    5. Add some water and cook the potatoes.

    6. Once cooked, serve with warm rice.
