Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries, 2 Tbsp lemon juice, 1 ½ cups white sugar, ½ cup melted butter, ¾ cup all-purpose flour, 5 Tbsp canola oil, 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp salt, ¾ cup water,

Instructions

    In a glass bowl add 1 cup of fresh blackberries, 1 cup of sugar, and 2 Tbsp of lemon juice mix and cover with plastic wrap, let sit for 1 hour at room temperature, while waiting, make your dough, In a large bowl, mix flour and salt, create a well in the center and pour in the oil and vinegar and mix to combinf, add ½ cup of water and mix to combine, depending on how well it came together you might need to add more water until it is no longer crumbly, add water a few drops at a time and mix the dough if its still not smooth add a few more drops and mix, but just until the dough is smooth, if the dough is too sticky, add a ½ tsp more of flour, once dough is smooth, cut the dough into small balls slightly bigger then a golf ball, coat lightly with canola oil and wrap them in plastic wrap and let dough rest for 1 hour, Take your berries, stir them and heat them up in a microwave for 6 minutes, remove and stir, heat for another 6 minutes, remove and stir, and heat again for another 6 minutes, remove and let cool, berries will thicken as it cools, when bowl is cool enough to handle with bare hands, place in the refrigerator to cool quicker, After dough has rested for 1 hour, roll out each ball into a thin square, as thin as you can, try to form 6” X 6” square sheets, brush each rolled out dough sheet with butter, one at a time, layer 3 sheets on top of each other making stacks of rolled out sheets, covered each sheet with butter, spoon 1 Tbsp of berry preserves onto each 6” X 6” square stack, fold over diagonally, using a fork to crimp the edges, cut a slit in the top of each one to vent it, brush melted butter over each one sprinkle with sugar, bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until they puff up and become golden brown, filling will be extremely hot, cool completely before eating, Enjoy.
