Butterscotch Hard Candy(werthers candy)

  • 2 1/2 c sugar
  • 13/4 c water
  • 11/2 c lite corn syrup
  • 11 c butter, softenen and cubed
  • 11/4 c honey
  • 11/2 tsp salt
  • 11/2 tsp rum extract
  • 1 Add Ingredients to Grocery Listbutter a 15x10x1 pan.
  • In heavy pan combine sugar, water and corn syrup. cover and bring to boil over med heat.
  • remove lid and cook uncovered until candy thermometer reaches 270 degrees (soft crack) Add butter, honey, salt and extract. Stir constantly until you reach 300 degrees. (hard crack)
  • remove from heat.pour into prepared pan without scraping.Do not spread either.
  • cool for about 5 minutes or until candy is almost set. score into 1 inch squares. cool completely. break. Store in airtight container.
