Ingredients

  • Chocolate Cupcake
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 cup tightly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cups good cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee, or 1 tablespoon instant coffee powder dilluted in a cup of boiling water
  • 2 cups bittersweet chocolate, chopped or chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (optional)
