  • water or stock
  • sunflower or light vegetable oil
  • salt (or to taste - if you're using stock to cook the rice, you may need less)
  • saffron threads
  • basmati or long-grain rice
  • raisins (I used golden raisins)
  • flaked, sliced or chopped almonds
