  • 1 1/2 cups plus 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 large eggs, separated, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons Frangelico or biscotti liqueur
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
