  • 1 lb flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant dry yeast (I use saf instant)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg white
  • INSTRUCTIONS:Set oven to 350 degrees while dough is covered and resting
  • Mix flour, yeast, sugar and salt together
  • Slice up butter into small pieces and rub with fingers into flour mix (better if you have a dough blender)
  • Gradually add water to mixture till incorporated
  • Knead dough till mixture is like elastic (about 10 minutes)
  • In a greased bowl, add dough and cover with a damp towel for approx 45 minutes
  • Take dough out of bowl and punch down mixture
  • With a rolling pin, on a lightly floured surface, roll dough out into as close to a rectangle as possible.
  • Then tightly roll dough up and place in greased baking pan (if roll is a little longer than pan, push in ends of roll to shorten roll)
  • Leave in pan to sit for 30 minutes
  • Beat egg white and brush bread with beaten egg
  • Bake for 30 - 40 minutes or until bread is brown in color
