  • 2 paper straws with fall or Thanksgiving colors
  • 3/4 cup soft butter
  • 3 eggs at room temperature
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 350 degreese.Grease bottom of pan (for this cake, I used a small oval pan but this recipe works well for two round pans, size 9x9).Beat butter for 30 seconds, then, slowly add sugar.Add eggs one at a time, beating after each one. Beat in vanilla.Add dry ingredients, beating after each addition.Add half of the milk, beat. Add the other half. Beat just until everything is combined nicely.Spread batter evenly into pans Bake for 30-35 minutes for round pans. Around 5 minutes longer for larger pans.Don't overcook, keep watching cake and it's finished when toothpick comes out clean.
