  • 1 + ½ cup (180g) all purpose flour/ maida, sifted
  • 12 tablespoons (15g) cocoa powder
  • 11 teaspoon (6g) baking soda
  • 11 cup (200g) castor sugar
  • 1½ cup (120mL) vegetable oil
  • 1¼ cup (72g) yogurt
  • 12 teaspoons (10mL) lemon juice
  • 12 teaspoons (10mL) vanilla extract
  • 14-5 teaspoons (20-25mL) red food colour
  • 11 + ¼ cup (300g) buttermilkPre-heat the oven to 180*C and line a 9" round cake pan with parchment paper.
  • 1 Ina large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda together. I recommend you sift all the dry ingredients once.
  • 1 In a separate bowl, combine sugar and oil. Beat well.
  • 1 Add yogurt, vanilla, red color and lemon juice and mix until everything is well combined.
  • 1 Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in three batches, alternating with buttermilk.
  • 1 Be careful to not over mix. Beat only until everything is well combined and there are no large flour pockets.
  • 1 Transfer the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Your eggless red velvet cake is ready!
