Ingredients

  • 4 Egg whites, room temperature
  • 2 Cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 Cup butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 Cups of sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups of buttermilk

  • LEMON CURD
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsps cornstarch
  • 3 tps finely shredded lemon peel
  • 6 tbsps lemon juice
  • 6 tbsps water
  • 6 beaten egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup Butter, cut up
  • 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
  • 3 Large egg whites
  • 1 1/2 Cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 1 tbsp light corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 7 minutes Remove from the heat. Add vanilla and beat until combined and cooled.
