  • 4 yolks would add enough denseness and creamy mouth feel to make up for the lack of a gelato maker, but I think I’d add a fifth yolk. Make sure to allow this to soften a bit before serving. My daughter thought this was fabulous…but I think hubby needed an infusion of chocolate into his for a two thumbs up rating. I say smother it in caramel and fudge sauce! I’d love to hear your favorite gelato flavors…and any hints for making the ultimate gelato!
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 vanilla bean, split with vanilla seeds scraped from pod
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
