really isn’t bad in the world of fruitcake prices. I saw a flyer recently wanting $32.99 for a small, round fruitcake. And that’s the stuff that hasn’t been soaked in enough booze to make it illegal to drive after one slice.
I think I have it right. Here’s the result:
2 1/3 cups
softened margarine or butter
1/3 cup molasses
grated orange peel
chopped pecans or walnuts
mixed candied fruit (like Fruitcake Mix from Sunripe Fruit Products of Plant City, FL)
Fruitcake gets a bad rap and rightly so. But not these fruitcake bars. HolidayFruitcake BarsMakes 32 barsButter a 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake until cooked through and a skewer inserted into the fruitcake comes out with a few crumbs but no batter, 50 to 55 minutes, rotating the pan once halfway through baking. Cut around the 2 short sides to loosen, then use the overhanging parchment to life the fruitcake out of the pan. 2 short sides to loosen, then use the overhanging parchment to life the fruitcake out of the pan
You can also search for special holiday recipes since there is a Holiday category as well. I've been on the lookout for a fun and easy dessert recipe for the holidays and was so happy to see this one for "Oreo Mini Ice Cream Tarlets"
It's the time to bake various Christmas cookies again. While I'll certainly be making and baking and decorating a batch of these favourite Estonian piparkoogid ("pepper cakes"), then this year I have another recipe in mind as well
The holidays are my favorite time of the year, but I always gain a few pounds at this time of year. It's no fun trying to lose those pesky pounds, so I work hard to cut back on the sugar and carbs in my recipes and still make them taste great
