  • 2 brown onions or 2 yellow onions, finely chopped
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 2 (16 ounce) cans cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (28 ounce) can italian diced roma tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons light molasses
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 bay leaves
  • salt and black pepper
  • 1 lb bacon, bones or 1 lb pork neck bones
  • 6 slices bacon, trimmed
