Ingredients

  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • ½ cup plain flour
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Water to knead
  • Salt to taste
  • Knead the ingredients into a smooth and stiff dough and keep covered for half an hour.
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • ½ onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic and ginger paste
  • 1 tsp five spice powder (star anise, cloves, cinnamon, timur or Szechwan pepper, fennel)
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp gur (jaggery) or brown sugar (optional)
