  • 1 1/2 cup chickpea
  • 1 big bay leaf
  • 1 tea bag
  • 3 1/2 tbsps vegetable oil
  • 1/8 tsp asafetida
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 5 cloves 1 anise star (petals only)
  • 1 1/2 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 2 tsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1 1/2 cup crushed tomato
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Bombay biriyani masala powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup freshly chopped coriander leaves for garnish
  • lemon wedges
