Granted…we have taken on some pretty big projects this year but I am at a loss for how far behind I feel. I have two kids in school this year and am very busy volunteering. Like with everything else I do I eventually create a routine that works for me. I’m not quite there yet though.
  • 6-7 hours The table is set the night before (the cat is banished to the laundry room for the night to keep her paws away from the set table). I buy her cooperation with treats and toys. I even put opening the wine to breathe at a certain time on my list. That list allows me to relax. I stay true to it and all is well. If I change the way I do things the whole thing falls apart. It’s important to me that by the time our friends and family arrive that dinner is pretty much done and resting (I don’t care what anyone says….never EVER carve an unrested turkey). The very last thing to go into the oven are the parker house rolls while the turkey rests. I want to spend time with our family….I don’t want to spend time busy in the kitchen. Besides….my whole family gathers in the kitchen leaving me no room to work anyway. I don’t think anyone goes past the kitchen and dining room. The living room stays empty except for the kids after a while…they get tired of us and go off to watch holiday versions of cartoons. I love Shrek Christmas myself.
