  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla butternut flavoring (optional, but highly recommended)

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 8 ounces pecan halves
  • Generous pinch of salt
