Ingredients

  • 2 cup seeraga samba rice (or basmati rice) - soaked in water for 20 mins 3 cup vegetable (or) chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 medium sized onions - finely chopped
  • 2 medium sized tomatoes - finely chopped (or) 1/2 cup curd / yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp chicken powder (or) garam masala - optional
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
  • 4 cloves 1 cinnamon 1 bay leaf
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds (saunf)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp nutmeg powder - optional
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves (pudina)
  • 1/2 cup chopped coriander
  • 1 green chili
