Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (93/7)
  • 1 sweet yellow onion, diced
  • 4 baby bella mushrooms, chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 29- ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 29- ounce can stewed tomatoes in Italian spices
  • 5 ounces (about 2 cups) fresh baby spinach leaves
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 pound bite-sized pasta, such as Farfalle, Rotini, Penne, Shell, Campanelle, etc...
  • 1 1/2 cups grated Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup warm 2% milk (70° to 80°)
  • 2 tablespoons warm water (70° to 80°)
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 2/3 cup bread flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 egg 2 teaspoons minced fresh rosemary, sage and thyme, plus extra for sprinkling on top
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Cracked black pepper
