Ingredients

  • zest from 1 lemon
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 stick (8 tbsp butter), room temperature
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (plus 2 Tb)
  • 1 1/8 tsp baking powder (1/2 tsp)
  • 1 1/8 tsp baking soda (1/2 tsp)
  • 1 tsp table salt
  • 10 Tb (1 stick plus 2 Tb) butter, softened but still cool
  • 1 cup plus 4 Tb sugar (minus 2 Tb from the 1 cup)
  • 2 Tb lemon zest plus 4 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 large eggs (5 large eggs)
  • 5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups sour cream
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
