Ingredients

  • 12 - 16 ounces fresh green beans - stems removed and cut in half
  • 1/2 large sweet onion - medium dice
  • 1 cup chicken broth - warmed
  • 4 tbsp butter (for the roux)
  • 4 tbsp flour (all purpose)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup crushed Ritz crackers for topping - optional
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for the onions)
  • Prep time: 10 minutes
  • Cook time: 45-48 minutes
