Ingredients

  • For Batter
  • 1 cup Thinai Arisi / Foxtail Millet
  • 1/2 cup Varagu Arisi / Kodo Millet
  • 1/2 cup Saamai Arisi / Little Millet
  • 1 cup Idli Rice
  • 1 cup Urad Dal (ultham paruppu / black gram)
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds / vendayam / methi dhana
  •  
  • For Tempering
  • 1 medium sized onion - finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Mudakathan Keerai Paste / Balloon Vine Leaves - optional
  • 1 carrot - grated
  • 2 green chilies - finely chopped
  • 1 tsp urad dal (ultham paruppu / black gram)
  • 1 tsp channa dal (kadala paruppu / bengal gram)
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 stick curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander

  • 1 medium sized onion - chopped
  • 2-3 dry red chilies
  • small lemon sized tamarind - seeds removed
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Pottukadalai / Chutney Dal / Split Roasted Gram
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal (ultham paruppu / black gram)
  • 1 tsp channa dal (kadala paruppu / bengal gram)
  • 1 stick curry leaves
