  • 125 g - 1 cup unbleached whole wheat flour ۞ = SUBSTITUTIONS BELOW
  • 150 g - 1 cup barley flour
  • 125 g - 1 cup oatflour
  • 140 g - 1 cup date flour ۞ = SUBSTITUTIONS BELOW
  • 60 g - ½ cup flaxmeal
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 TBS date molasses (for sweetness, optional)
  • 2 tsp (1 packet) baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 600 ml - 2 ½ buttermilk ۞ = SUBSTITUTIONS BELOW
  • butter or coconut oil or mild olive oil, for frying
  • 7-9 fresh dates, pitted (I use Deglet Nour)
  • 375 ml - 1½ water
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp vanilla
  • 1 TBS real butter (optional if you like a buttery taste)
