My kids do not like eating the dosa with onions and curry leaves as find it difficult to pick it up, so I make them plain dosas and later on add the onions and make it for myself
Then heat oil in a pan in medium-high flame, add mustard seeds, then add channa dal and urad dal and fry for a minute then add chopped onions, slit green chillies and curry leaves and fry till onions turn translucent
A tasty Southindianbreakfast almost prepared at every Southindian Home. Heat tawa, smear 1 teaspoon oil on the tawa, when hot pour a ladle full of batter on the sides of tawa the batter runs to the center and fills the whole tawa, spread 1 teaspoon oil on the dosa
It makes quite a filling breakfast and is considered interesting by your family members if they are really bored of having upma or rava idli(almost similar) regularly
To make Kurma style side dish for idli, dosa you can either grind coconut + whole spices and add to the tomato, onion, vegetables base OR saute the whole spices before adding onions, tomato and proceed without coconut paste
Saute tomato, onion, red chilli and grind with salt to smooth paste. I guess most of you would have tasted mini tiffin in hotel Saravana Bhavan, Chennai
