Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp + ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp freshly ground cardamom
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • zest of one large orange (~1 heaping tbsp.)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs, room temp.
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • ⅔ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 6 large egg whites
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 cups unsalted butter, softened and cut into chunks
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp rose water
