At this point the bird has been in for an hour at 300 deg. What I am hoping will happen is that the butter will melt and perfectly spread all over the turkey, then it will get a wonderful golden brown hue.

B has gotten home now and the temperature on the meat thermometer at this point is a disappointing 130 deg. So we are letting it go for another hour.

Things are improving at 160 deg on the meat thermometer now, but still not where we want it to be. Hmm.

Finally(!) after about five hours of total cook time at 300 deg, we have a bird that is ready to eat
I adapted these Turkey Cupcakes from Betty Crocker. The cupcakes were made with boxed yellow cake, Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting, Hershey Kisses Candy, and the turkey feathers were made from Hershey's Milk Chocolate Chips, Reese's Peanut Butter Chips and Wilton Candy Melts
These turkey burgers from last summer, and it’s kind of perfect because it’s MONDAY so why not have a burger, and the weather here is warming up and we’re talking about yard work and new flowers and grilling out, and a burger just fits so nicely into all of that
