Ingredients

  • Tomato
  • Salsa
  • Applesauce
  • 5 of
  • 3 pounds of ripe tomatoes, cut into quarters
  • 1 pound of tomatillo’s, papers removed, washed and cut in half
  • 2 large jalapeno peppers, washed and cut into quarters (see note)
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and cut into quarters
  • 4-5 peeled garlic cloves
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, wash and chopped (see note)
  • 1/2 cup bottled lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Place the tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapeno’s and onion on a large baking sheet.
  • Roast in a preheated 375 F. degree oven for 30-45 minutes or until slightly charred.
  • Allow to cool to for 10 minutes.
