Hamburger Steaks with Mushroom & Red Onion Gravy. Salt & pepper to taste. (Okay, decades…) Though not quite as “steak-ish” as the name implies, they’re still a step up from regular ol’ hamburgers
Today I am bringing you another version of one of my favorites dinner meals, SalisburySteak. I think it was the addition of the Lipton onion soup mix and the sour cream in the gravy
Whisk together gravy mix and water until well blended. Allow to simmer until gravy warms and thickens. Combine all pattie ingredients in a large bowl and massage with your hands until ingredients are incorporated
Preheat large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. To serve, pour gravy over SalisburySteaks. Combine meat, Worcestershire, onion and steak seasoning
Mix the beef, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and form into 4 patties before frying in a pan until lightly golden brown on both sides and cooked though, about 3-7 minutes per side. Melt the butter in a pan over medium-high heat, add the mushrooms and onion and cook until the mushroom have released their moisture, it has cooked off and the mushrooms start to turn a light golden brown, about 13-15 minutes. Add the broth, Worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, salt and pepper, bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes. Butter one side of each slice of bread, sprinkle half of the cheese onto the unbuttered side of half of the slices of bread followed by the patties, 1 tablespoon of the gravy each, the remaining cheese and finally top with the remaining slices of bread with the buttered side up. Grill over medium heat until golden brown and the cheese has melted, about 2-3 minutes per side, before serving topped with the remaining gravy or with the gravy on the side for dipping
Place meatballs in slow cooker on top of vegetable mixture. 1 Spray 5- or 6-quart oval slow cooker with cooking spray. Shape into about 24 (1 1/2-inch) meatballs. cook on Low heat setting 3 to 4 hours or until meatballs are thoroughly cooked (165°F)
Add onions and cook over medium-. One of my favorite beef dishes is SalisburySteak with Mushrooms, So I am sharing this recipe with you today, this is so good over old fashioned mashed potatoes or noodles with sides of home style veggies and you have a down home cooked meal to satisfy the beast of hunger
In a large deep skillet over medium-high heat, brown both sides of patties. I had never made or tried SalisburySteak before, but I always thought it sounded interesting
And the gravy. After I did Iowa comfortfood, the tenderloin sandwich, I was looking for more and chicken fried steak (AKA Southern Fried Steak) came to the top of the list
Heat oil over medium-low heat in a skillet. Steaks. Gravy. Serve hot with the gravy and a side salad. 3-4 minutes. Place on parchment lined baking sheet and bake at preheated 425 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until tender in the center
Allow the mixture ot brown over medium-low heat and stir frequently to prevent it from burning. Cut each steak into the desired serving size, if necessary
Season with salt& pepper. Heat oil in large non-stick skillet. Cook gently, uncovered, 4-5 minutes. **You can use thin minute steaks instead of hamburgers but cook steaks for 2 minutes in step 5 or til cooked through. 6 hamburger patties (each about 1/2-inch thick)
