  • 6 medium onions, peeled, cut in half lengthwise and then sliced thickly
  • 2 TBS tomato puree (tomato paste)
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • pinch of ground cinnamon
  • salt to taste
  • water as needed
