  • cup basmathi rice
  • tbsps curd
  • ¾ to 1 tsp homemade biryani masala powder or any biryani masala
  • powder ( can use an store bought powder, but adjust the quantity as needed)
  • ½ tbsps. smooth cashew paste (optional, most of the times i do not use but adds a lot of taste)
  • bay leaf
  • star anise
  • green cardamom
  • small strand mace
  • tsp shahi jeera
  • cup mint leaves pudina
  • to 2 green chilies
  • garlic cloves
  • medium onion
