  • 200 g pitted medjool dates - chopped
  • 100 ml boiling water
  • 1 very ripe banana - mashed
  • 50 g wholemeal rye flour
  • 25 g ground almonds
  • 75 g unsweetened cocoa powder (or raw cocoa powder)
  • 130 g unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons fennel seeds
  • 2 large free-range eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • 100 g almonds – roughly chopped
