    ‘Eat more home cooked meals and less takeaways’. We often hear these words of advice, and know them to be true. Even if we choose ‘healthy’ takeaways, we really have no knowledge, let alone control, over the actual ingredients that go into our purchased dinner. Cooking at home is cheaper and healthier. But cooking after a busy day at work can feel like an unnecessary added stress. Fortunately, it needn’t be as nightmarish as you think. Minced meat is an inexpensive and versatile, and cooks quickly. Try minced Halal beef with these three easy, tasty recipes.

    Beef stroganoff

    This takes about 20 minutes to prepare and 10 minutes to cook. You will need a packet of rice noodles, which you should prepare according to the instructions. Leave the noodles aside to cool and in a skillet, cook your ground beef until done. This should be over a medium heat for about 10 minutes or until brown. Once cooked, drain the fat add a tin of condensed cream of mushroom soup. Let the beef and soup simmer for a further 10 minutes, with occasional stirring. Once you feel it has cooked well enough take it off the heat and add the egg noodles to the mixture. Once mixed well, add sour cream and salt and pepper to taste, and combine thoroughly. Snuggle into your favourite spot at home, put on your favourite TV show or movie and indulge!


    Kofta are incredibly easy to make, and if you’re not familiar with them, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them! Heat the grill on a high heat and have your skewers ready. Remember, if you are using wooden skewers to soak them in water. To prepare the beef, mix it with some parsley, cayenne pepper, onions, salt and pepper. Divide into six portions. These portions you have to press on to the skewers about one inch thick. Now place these on the hot grill, turning occasionally until the meat is cooked to your liking. Pair this with a fresh salad or raita and you’ve got perfection on a plate.


    This is actually one of the easiest dishes to make. Put the minced halal beef into a big bowl along with some Worcestershire sauce, eggs for binding, onions, bread crumbs, garlic, mustard and red pepper flakes for some heat. Make the meatballs by hand to required size. Heat some olive oil on a skillet and cook evenly until done. Sit back and enjoy!
