Ingredients

  • 3 sticks (24 tbsp) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 12 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/4 granulated sugar
  • 3 c unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 c granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c light brown sugar, packed
  • 3-1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 3-1/2 c assorted toasted nuts, coarsely chopped
  • 2 c thick apricot or prune lekvar, homemade or store-bought
  • 2 c assorted dried fruits, diced if large, plumped if dry
  • 1 c chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 lg egg, beaten with 1 tbsp cream or milk, for egg wash
  • 1/2 cup of the remaining chopped nuts and
  • 1/2 cup of the dried fruit over each dough half
