For this soup, I used the dried Great Northernbeans from Hurst's withthe ham flavoring packet. Then you simply add them to theslowcookerwith a few other ingredients and cook for several hours
Sprinkle with oil, salt, pepper and sugar and stir until onions are coated. Place bowls on a cookie sheet and put under broiler for a minute or so, until cheese is melted and starts to get a little brown
Rinse the black beans in a colander under cool running water and pick out any stones or debris. Once thebeans are very soft, use an immersion blender** to blend the soup until it is thick and creamy (leave some beans whole if desired)
Serve withcornbread. Rinse beans and remove any debris. Place beans, onion, pepper, celery, garlic, chicken broth, water, and turkey a 6 quart slowcooker. Cook on high 5-7 hours or until beans are tender. Cook for an additional 30 minutes
Garnish the bowls of soup with shredded cheese, tortilla chips and salsa if desired. Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Tortilla Chips and Sour Cream to Garnish & Serve
If you cook withbeans often I suggest you look into Rancho GordoBeans, I ordered a large shipment of unique beans and can’t wait to make more recipes like this one
Salt and pepper to taste and serve with extra bacon and cheese, if desired. I have never really used leeks before and didn't really know how they would taste
Return shredded chicken to slowcooker along with lime juice and fresh chopped cilantro and gently stir (if you wanted another filler you can add in some frozen cornor rinsed black beans)
My favorite way to prepare stroganoff has always been in the crockpot because every morsel tenderizes as it bathes in the spiced broth, soaking up all theflavorfor hours AND because its so easy – no browning meat, no sauteing onions, simply let theslowcooker do all theworkfor you as it fills every crevice of your home withthe aroma of savory, beefy soup
) Vegetarian/vegan. The Spanish word “charro” translates to “cowboy” and refers to these traditional pinto beans cooked with onion, garlic, chilies, and pork
