dress salad as desired with a sprinkling of rice vinegar, sesame oil and grapeseed oil. Last night we had just that - Asian inspired turkey and quinoa lettuce wraps with a crisp apple and fennel slaw and home made sweet chilli and lemongrass sauce
Michelle Pfeiffer was born in Santa Ana, California to Dick and Donna Pfeiffer. Scudda Hay. Her earthy looks and short “tossed salad” hairdo were especially influential and, in fact, there’s a type of curly lettuce named “Lollo” in honor of her cute hairdo
So far we’ve enjoyed dinner with Marcella, dinner with Nigella, dinner with Ottolenghi, dinner with Maria Speck, dinner with Naomi Duguid, lunch with Jamie Oliver, a dessert party with Butter Baked Goods, dinner with Jacques Pépin, dinner with Smitten Kitchen, recipes from Rachel Khoo and last month we brunched with DonnaHay
DonnaHay is a master at making food look so good you’ll want to eat the pages themselves. You can find them in the Asian section of most supermarkets, and you just dunk them in warm water for a few seconds, fill it with goodies, then wrap like a little burrito
The apple mash idea comes from DonnaHay. It is a spice that can be used in almost any cuisine, not just Asian or Indian, and works for savoury or sweet dishes
To make the salad, you will need to start marinating your rib eye steaks. Meanwhile, make a vinaigrette with two tablespoons of rice vinegar, a tablespoon of sesame oil and sugar, pour the vinaigrette on the salad, mix well and as Jamie Oliver would do, mix the meat and salad to combine the flavors
1/4 cup Asian fish sauce. Soak the noodles in a bowl of warm water until pliable, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, in a mortar, pound the sugar with the garlic and crushed red pepper to a fine paste
To join, simply cook or bake a DonnaHay recipe and blog hop with us. I used this vinegar a lot as dipping sauce for our Shanghai dumplings and used it too to cook sticky Asian pork ribs recently for our Chinese new year
Inspired by a DonnaHay recipe from Fresh and Light. If I had to choose between the Asian one I posted last week or this one here… I’d be having a hard time choosing… Not that that is necessary really, but they are both equally delicious
