Use a toothpick to dab bright pink, blue, and purple food coloring into a simple vanilla glaze, and then drag the toothpick around the surface until the swirls look spacey enough
Simply dust the decorative molds (or rolling pin) with flour, shaking lightly to remove any excess. Halfway through, I always rotate the tray in the oven so the cookies bake evenly on all sides
of the lined baking sheets, leaving plenty of space in between for. caster sugar for dusting. I would spend several weeks baking up my favourite cookies and cakes and freezing them
Turn the dough onto a work surface dusted with confectioner’s sugar. When I looked over the recipe to make my Springerle cookies, I saw that I would need something called Baker’s Ammonia
Using a cookie cutter of choice (or otherwise just slice out squares) get your desired shapes and numbers of cookies, then place them with a bit of space around each one on a baking tray
Note - if desired you can dust with some icing sugar before serving. it makes them feel obligated or something, but they never seem to mind if you gift them with a box of cookies
Optionally, dust with confectioners' sugar. Do not bake with unchilled dough because cookies will bake thinner, flatter, and be more prone to spreading
