But since I wanted sometime fusion rather than the traditional Steamed Prosperity Cakes (Fa Gao - 发糕), I decided to use a sponge cake recipe and give it a twit by adding instant coffee powder and brown sugar to achieve a similar colour like Fa Gao
No oil are used and it does fall under the western cake categorization of “sponge cake”. Some have added ovalette at all As such it looks different from this illustration
The reason why I chose this recipe was more towards the sesame part as I am a fan of sesame products and have used lots of sesames in cooking, particularly the oil

The whole thing about making it at home, is because you want it additives free, isn't it. I read that some additives like SP, ovalette could help, but I have not, and don't think I will try
